I don't really know what I am musing on these days. It's more like an irregular stream of consciousness thing...it seems to be working.

Pickle, Schmickle...Eat Already

I have recently been accessing my inner Bubbe, making homemade pickles and other comestibles; the pickles turned out surprisingly well, and no one appeared to get botulism. The confession, of course, is that I got the recipe from Martha Stewart Living. Though she may be a jailbird, you gotta love her recipes. And occasionally her useless but attractive craft projects.

My favorite of the other comestibles was not just matzoh brei, but incredibly trayfey (i.e., non-kosher) matzo brei mixed with pulled pork bbq...and yes, I did make that too. I've been kind of amazed at how much fun I've been having cooking; it's really a great way to relax. Then, of course, I stress out about how much weight I'm probably gaining with all this kitchen hoohah. At the same time, it's pretty nice to get kudos for being sort of creative, especially from a good friend of ours, the "Hebrew Hammer", who basically loves pork in any and all forms...I think the Anti-Matzo Brei was the highlight of his week. We decided that this might make me more, rather than less, pseudo-Jewish, although I probably won't mention it to my friend's grandmother.
